Apex Legends is a free-to-play FPS developed by Respawn Entertainment, where players play with 3 players each in a squad and Twenty squads go against each other making for a total of 60 players in a match. The player’s objective is to become the final surviving squad with the player’s two companions. Each squad is battling against themselves, and the play area is decreasing in size. The game is heavily strategy-based where the players have to use their intellect and in-game knowledge to be the last squad standing.

Vince Zampella and Jason West experienced a significant split from Activision, the gaming studio they co-founded, and departed from Call of Dutyโ€”a billion-dollar gaming franchise they both played a pivotal role in creating. Subsequently, they established Respawn Entertainment, which was later acquired by EA in a notable 500 million-dollar deal. Under the umbrella of EA, Respawn Entertainment shifted its focus to the development of a new game, aiming to strike a balance between the military-themed PUBG and the lightheartedness of Fortnite.

This new venture resulted in the creation of “Apex Legends.” Drawing inspiration from various elements of other battle royale titles, Apex Legends ingeniously incorporates and moulds them into its distinct style. Notably, the inclusion of character combinations in the battle royale genre, inspired by Overwatch, adds a unique touch to Apex Legends. The game boasts a concise yet diverse roster of characters, making it both accessible and manageable for players to master each character quickly.

Apex Legends Mobile was released on mobile devices in May 2022 in a bid to expand its player base to mobile gamers as well. Mimicking the footsteps of COD and PUBG with their mobile versions also out on the App Store and Play Store. When it comes to Solo and Duo squad matches there are none in Apex Legends, as the game is wholly focused on three-squad gameplay, unlike PUBG where there are Solo, Duo and Squad matches. One major deviation that is seen in Apex Legends Mobile or the PC console version is that when you die you don’t die permanently, your team has ninety seconds to collect your banner and go to the nearest respawn beacon to call your dead teammate/s back.
