Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail, the fifth major expansion, is set to launch on July 2, 2024. Early access for pre-ordered players began on June 28, and the release has been met with resounding success as players eagerly dive into the game.
During early access, Square Enix encountered some issues related to player surges. However, they attribute the overall smooth launch to their expanded data centres, additional worlds, and improved server performance. Stability was maintained despite the presence of login queues, efficiently processing players.

The developers have revealed a treasure trove of new content for players to delve into with Dawntrail. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits:
- New Continent: Tural – Warriors of Light set sail for a whole new continent, brimming with rumor and intrigue. A visitor from Tural seeks your help in determining their next ruler, with whispers of a legendary city of gold.
- Visually Stunning Makeover – Dawntrail boasts the game’s first major graphical overhaul. Expect enhanced textures, sharper shadows, and improved character and environment details.
- New Jobs – Two exciting new jobs join the fray: the Viper, a swift and decisive dual-wielding damage dealer, and the Pictomancer, a creative spellcaster who brings their artistic visions to life.
- New Playable Race: Female Hrothgar – Players can now choose a female Hrothgar character, known for their strength and leadership qualities.
- New Areas to Explore – Tural offers diverse landscapes to conquer, from the bustling city of Tuliyollal to the verdant Kozama’uka forests and the mountainous Urqopacha region.
- Dungeons and Challenges – Put your skills to the test in challenging new dungeons like the level 91 Ihuykatumu, featuring a thrilling river cruise entrance.

How to Play Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail?
In order to play Dawntrail, you need to own the base game, either FINAL FANTASY XIV Online – Starter Edition or FINAL FANTASY XIV Online – Complete Edition.
Players who purchased this expansion would have to redeem the registration code which they will receive from the specific retailer that they bought from. Players who participated in early access can continue playing the expansion after the official release.
Non-participants in the early access should download the  Final Fantasy IV client first, using the appropriate method for your platform (Windows or Mac). Steam users can directly download the client from their Steam Library. For PS4/5, and Xbox Series X/S owners, launching FF IV Online will download and install the necessary files.
