Netflix has 80 Games in Development and Plans to Release A Multiplayed Squid Game Later this Year

Netflix is preparing to expand its gaming portfolio with the inclusion of 80 new games and a promise to launch one new game each month beginning this July. The streaming giant, which ventured into mobile gaming about three years ago, now has a library of around 100 games. Here’s how the company is looking ahead this year and beyond.

Netflix to Release One Game each Month, including Games based on Popular Showsnetflix games

During the company’s latest earnings call, Gregory K. Peters, co-CEO and president, announced that the company had around 80 titles in development. Peters emphasized Netflix’s success with games based on its own IPs and revealed that starting this month, a new game will be released every month. These games will feature titles based on famous Netflix TV series like Emily in Paris and Selling Sunset, which come under the Netflix Stories hub.

Peters said that, despite the fact that the gaming industry is worth over $150 billion (excluding China, Russia, and ad revenue), Netflix’s investment in games remains “relatively small” in proportion to its entire content budget. Despite this, the corporation is satisfied with its progress, which includes a tripling engagement in 2023 and ambitious growth plans for 2024, 2025, and 2026.

One of the most anticipated releases is a multiplayer game based on Netflix’s sensational Korean drama Squid Game, which will premiere with the show’s second season later this year.

Netflix’s gaming library has also grown dramatically, currently including a wide range of games. Subscribers may watch interactive stories based on popular television shows like Love is Blind and Perfect Match, as well as third-party games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, San Andreas, Hades, Dead Cells, and Kentucky Route Zero.

Looking ahead, Netflix intends to release intriguing new games like The Dragon Prince: Xadia, Don’t Starve Together, and other interactive stories inspired by Selling Sunset and Perfect Match.

With these developments, Netflix continues to advance in the gaming sector, continuously expanding its library and improving its services to users.
