The long-rumoured and most-anticipated announcement from Sony has finally come through in the form of the all-new PS5 Pro. The latest Sony Technical PlayStation Presentation featuring PS5 Pro offered fans its looks, enhanced features and pricing. So far, the reaction has been mixed.
Although leaks suggested that the mid-generation PS5 refresh would maintain the current design, the reveal has not quite captured the hearts of fans. The new PS5 Pro promises enhanced visual fidelity and framerates, but these improvements are difficult to appreciate through compressed YouTube streams, especially when Sony decided to showcase PS4 games for the newer upgrade.
Perhaps the most significant hurdle is the price which is 700 USD for the console itself and it is Disc-less. Players need to buy an additional HD Disc Drive, costing 80 USD and possibly a vertical stand (30 USD). For those with a substantial collection of PS4 and PS5 games on physical media, the total outlay could approach $800. The regional pricing would make it more costly.

the $699 price tag on the PS5 Pro certainly tests the waters for next-gen console pricing and discless consoles. Hold onto your disc drives and wallets, because next-gen consoles aren't gonna be cheap and will almost certainly come discless as standard

My simple ( it might look stupid but hear it nonetheless) question is- what if one purchases ps 5 pro and gets a pro patch for letโs say ragnarok. What if it makes the game worse because of A.I. upscaling . As it sometimes happens in pc games.

All said and done, the PS5 Pro at the moment is only an enthusiast's device. The games that'll utilise its upgrades you've probably played twice by now at minimum, so very little reason to upgrade rn.
I myself will probably upgrade early-ish simply due to spotty restocking.

($700 was the right price. Pro products are supposed to generate positive margin dollars by selling to price insensitive super users, not have greater or comparable losses than entry SKUs, nor are they indended to drive install base growth. Same reason DualSense Edge is $200)
