A multitude of burgeoning Indian gamers has not only demonstrated their skills but have also actively embraced gaming opportunities, propelling India’s efforts to secure a prominent position and global recognition. The spotlight on India intensified with the surge in popularity of trending mobile games such as PUBG Mobile and Free Fire, where Indian gamers clinched substantial “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” titles. However, achieving international recognition hinges on the formal acknowledgement of esports authorities by the Indian Government.
How does the Indian Government respond to the Indian Esports Community and Gaming Policies?
The Indian Parliament Minister, Kiren Rijiju, of the State for Youth Affairs and Sports embedded in his statement regarding Esports or Igaming, acknowledges this emerging gaming culture among the enthusiast’s youth to be potential professional players. Even the Indian gaming community must have a place for its talents and achievements in the Esports community and gaming industry. Considering that, a national governing body for all Esports in India was established as ESFI, the Electronic Sports Federation of India. Keeping in mind the objectives of ESFI that were to promote Esports, encourage and organize the Esports stations; educate and train the potential upcoming players to serve the purpose as approved members of the International Esports Federation (leSF) and Asian Esports Federation (aeSF). Regulation of Esports is also to be considered as a major objective of governing policies to protect the players from cyberbullying, constant checks for hacking into the gaming system to strictly maintain a balanced play covering as far as prohibiting e-dropping.
Despite being a member of the international realm, the Minister of State of Youth Affairs and Sports has much knowledge of several federations like the E-sports Development Association of India (EDAI), E-sports India (EI), and Electronic Sports Federation of India (ESFI), revealed in his statement that these organizations are unofficial and unrecognized by him. But the idea of making thousands and millions by making good use of advanced gaming technology was seen as righteous in the eyes of the Indian Government. They unanimously approved that gaming is very different from illegal gambling in India. Now preparing to officially announce the Esports Indian Community as a “new normal” Sports culture of the modern era of the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) and ascertain to the community the deserving recognition with a round of applause.
Finally, Esports players’ hard work paid off all around the globe after quite a struggle. Esports was supposed to be a glorious future market for South Korea never expecting the impactful explosion on other countries and India is one of them.
